Quality…
What does that mean in healthcare? How can it be measured? Is it the same for everyone? Who gets to decide?
These are just a few of the incredibly difficult questions that the healthcare industry is grappling with as we enter the age of value-based care. The decisions we make about quality in the coming years will have significant and lasting impact on the future of our industry. This is a conversation that’s very much worth having.
On this episode, we bring you another conference preview. Our intention is to help you find unique learning and networking opportunities that complement the normal programming on The #HCBiz Show! With our Quality Measure series just around the corner, this one is a particularly good match.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is bringing Quality Talks to Washington D.C. on October 16th, 2017. This 1-day event is designed to address some of the most difficult questions around healthcare quality. NCQA will bring us 10 speakers across the following tracks:
- The Future’s Not What You Think: In this contrarian track, the speakers will caution us that the headlines may not be the trend lines.
- Evidence, Ethics and Values: This track takes on the difficult task of defining, measuring and valuing care.
- Beside and Beyond Big Data: This track dives in to cognitive computing, open data and innovation.
Our guest is Andy Reynolds, Assistant VP of Marketing and Communications at NCQA. Andy tells us about the tracks and speakers and explains what NCQA is trying to accomplish with the event. It’s an interesting conversation that covers a range of topics including innovation, hype, end-of-life care, vulnerable populations and much more.
I hope you enjoy it. And if you do attend, please track me down and say hi!
